“They did that tonight,” Coach Alan Haire said with a big smile after the Salado Eagles dominated the Hyde Park Baptist Panthers 28-9 tonight at Eagle Field.
“They were explosive coming off of the line,” he said.

Comfort shuts out Salado 20-0 in week 2
Jason Faulkner had 201 yards rushing and scored all three touchdowns in the rain-soddened Salado Eagles’ 20-0 road loss to the Comfort Bobcats on Sept. 2.

The Salado H.S. cross country teams competed Sept. 2 in the Pro-Fit Invitational Meet at Wilson Park in Temple, where the varsity boys placed third and the varsity girls placed fourth.
Village of Salado conducts second tax rate hearing September 8
Following the second of two public hearings on the proposed 2016-17 budget on Sept. 8, Village of Salado aldermen will meet in executive session to evaluate Village Administrator Kim Foutz. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 301 N. Stagecoach Road.

Salado ISD Trustees adopted a $14 million operating budget following a public hearing on the matter Aug. 31 and dropped the tax rate from $1.26 per $100 valuation to $1.2238 per $100 valuation.

It’s official, Salado designated as Cultural and Arts District
Texas Commission on the Arts Announces Over $7 Million in Grants across Texas, Designates Seven New Cultural Districts
AUSTIN, Texas – September 7, 2016 – The Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) has approved funding of 974 grants in its first funding round for fiscal year 2017. The grants total over $7 million and will go to nonprofits and units of government in 120 cities. These grants include all of the Arts Create program grants, the Arts Respond Cultural District project grants, the first of two funding rounds for the Arts Respond Project program, the quarterly Arts Respond Performance Support program, and the quarterly Commission Initiatives and Designated Funding category.

Linda and Mickey Rawls combine art of plants, natural resources

Keep Salado Beautiful will sponsor tours of Salado’s gardens Oct. 8 with proceeds funding improvements in Salado.
Definition of garden from Wikipedia: “A garden is a planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the display, cultivation and enjoyment of plants and other forms of nature.” Linda and Mickey Rawls have combined the art of featuring plants, the natural resources of the land and the imagination to create their garden spaces. They have extensively used local rock and stone throughout their landscape combined with various sized rusted pipe vessels used as containers for potted specimens. As you enter the landscape along the driveway, notice the hillside has been lined with river rock and terraced with large limestone.
