Henry Matthew Sutton died April 29, 2017 surrounded by family, at the home of his sister in Salado, Texas. He was 57.
St. Stephen golf tournament May 12
St. Stephen’s Church will be hosting the Father Charlie Davis Annual Fundraiser Golf Tournament on May 12, at Mill Creek Country Club. Teams can arrive at noon for meals and warmup, with a 1:00 p.m. Shotgun start scheduled.

Salado city limit signs are finally up
To the Editor:
After nearly two years of delays, the Salado city limit signs are finally up. The south approach sign is nearing completion, and with some minor tweaks will be ready to tum on.
Newman would stick us with the bill
To the Editor:
John Newman’s response in Thursday’s paper to the “Left Behind” article makes me feel like I was invited to the Range Restaurant for their most expensive dinner and wines, then being told “I am concerned about your finances. To give you a chance to show you are solvent, I am going to let you pay for our dinner.” Please spare me the pretend concern for the south side homeowners.
City admin., police chief start work in Salado
Saladoans had a chance to meet Don Ferguson, the new city administrator at the end of his first day on the job May 1 and to reacquaint themselves with Rick Ashe, the new Chief of Police in Salado, during a reception at the Salado Civic Center attended by more than 50 people.

Disannexation, aldermen election May 6
On May 6, Salado voters will decide whether a large portion of the Village will be disannexed from it or will remain within the city.
Aldermen candidates on sewer, economic development, Vision
Salado Village Voice put the following questions before the seven candidates for the Village of Salado Board of Aldermen. Their answers follow.
1. With the final approval of permits for the sewer coming, will you work as an aldermen to make progress on the sewer, suggest different plans or oppose progress on the sewer? Why? (100 words)
2. What ideas, proposals, approaches will you bring to the Board of Aldermen concerning Economic Development, attracting new businesses and promoting Salado, if you are elected? (150 words)
3. What is your vision for Salado in five years? in 10 years? How do we get there as a community? (150 words)
