SISD candidates on police officer in school, enrollment, remote learning, main goal

On Nov. 3, Salado Independent School District voters will elect three board members to three-year terms on the Salado ISD Board of Trustees.  Candidates are Kim Bird, Troy Byrd, Savannah Hennig and Troy Smith.

Early voting continues through Oct. 30. There are several early voting locations in Bell County. On election day, Bell County registered voters may vote at any Bell County polling location, not just their home precinct. Precinct 203 voting will be at the Salado Church of Christ Activity Center, 217 Church St. in Salado.

Eagles dominate Ducks 49-3

Salado Eagles scored on all but one of its possessions and the stingy defense kept the Taylor Ducks on their side of the field for all but two of their possessions in a dominating 49-3 non-district football win Sept. 25.

Eagles outrun Blackcats 40-21

After battling each other for 23-scoreless minutes, Salado Eagles and Mexia Blackcats combined for nine touchdowns over the next 25 minutes with the visiting Eagles giving the Blackcats a 40-21 homecoming night loss.

Eagles win season opener over Troy 46-27

Salado Eagles jumped out to an early lead, thanks to two three-and-out stops by the defense, and then never looked back, beating the Troy Trojans 47-26 in the season opener at UMHB’s Crusader Stadium tonight.

Cornerstone ceremony marks opening of Salado Middle School

Grand Lodge of Texas will dedicate cornerstone

  The cornerstone of Salado Middle School will be dedicated by State officers of Grand Lodge of Texas, A.F. & A.M. and local members of Salado Masonic Lodge No. 296 in Salado.  The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 at Salado Middle School located at 1189 Williams Rd. in Salado.

Governor Abbott Waives Grade Promotion Requirements For 2020-2021 STAAR Testing

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the grade promotion requirement related to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test for students in grades 5 and 8 has been waived for the upcoming school year. Typically, school systems must take into account a student’s score on the STAAR test to determine whether the student can be promoted to the next grade level. The traditional A-F rating system will remain in place, albeit with certain adjustments due to COVID-19.

Bell Co Health Authority closes Bell schools for in-person classes through Sept. 7

Bell County locahl health authority Dr. Janice K. Smith issued an order today imposing restrictions on all public and private (non-religious) schools that will keep schools closed for in-person face-to-face instruction until after September 7, 2020.
