Funeral services for Richard J. Pereira, 71, of Salado, formerly from Killeen, TX, will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 8, at First Baptist Church of Salado with burial at Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 7, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.

Members of First Baptist Church of Salado will be joining tens of thousands of U.S. residents who are on a mission to make a lasting impact on children in need. They are looking beyond their own wish lists and packing shoeboxes for boys and girls around the world—for many of the children, it will be the first gift they have ever received.

First Baptist Bible drillers excel at memorizing verses and passages
Drillers have been practicing and memorizing since early September 2015. They must memorize 25 bible verses, 10 key passages and all 66 Books of the Bible. During drill competition, they have 10 seconds to locate a Key Passage, Book of the Bible or to recall and recite 1 of the 25 verses. There are 3 levels of competition: church, Association and State. 14 of the drillers advanced to State level competition which was held in Houston on April 9.
