Chili tastings begin at 11 a.m.
If you like it hot, you will love the second annual Salado Eagle Chili War Oct. 26 at Salado High School.
Competing teams will set up booths in the student parking lot at SHS in which they will offer their best version of the ubiquitous dish beginning at 9 a.m. The chili cook-off competition is open to teams of four (each team is composed of SHS students only, no adults).
Judges will pick the Best Chili with cash prizes for first, second and third place. Chili cook off judges are Burt Smith Rachel Lee, Linda Seawood, Jamie Wentrcek and Julie Goggans. The teams will prepare their best chili presentations for judges by 1 p.m.
Prizes will also be awarded based on public vote. Guests will vote once for People’s Choice and once for Most Creative Booth.
Chili tastings will begin at about 11 a.m., or whenever the first team has theirs ready.
Tasting tickets are $5 per person and include a bowl of chili, six tasting tickets and a beverage. For $3 you can get just a bowl of chili.
The Chili War is sponsored by the Class of 2015 Project Graduation. Proceeds benefit the 2013-14 Senior Prom and the Class of 2015 senior trip. Dessert, silent auction and bake sale proceeds benefit Class of 2015 Project Graduation.
