Dean Mooney, Floral Manager with Brookshire Bros. Grocery will be the speaker for American Business Women’s Association at their Feb. 4 meeting.
Mooney moved to Michigan from Texas in 1972 and received his Floriculture/Horticulture degree in 1974 from Michigan State in Lansing. He also attended the Bannow School of floral design where he was certified and taught with Charles Bannow at his shop.
In 1978, he became floral manager of Michigan’s largest Horticulture Center, Bordines Better Blooms, and remained there until 1992. During this time, he was President of Michigan Unit of Teleflora wire service, on the board of Detroit Metro Florist Assoc., Michigan State Florist Association.
In 1980, he was on the Teleflora design team to decorate the White House.
His major accomplishment came in 1992, when he was inducted into the prestigious organization of American Institute of Floral Designers.
Dean has been the floral manager at Brookshire Brothers for five years.
Ladies interested are welcome to attend the meeting at the Presbyterian Church of Salado, 105 Salado Plaza Drive.
The social time starts at 5:45 p.m. with the meeting commencing at 6:15 p.m.
