Friends,
Our engineer believes the best and safest way for the sewer line to cross Salado Creek is by boring underneath, therefore, a test and study are being required to determine what is under the creek. Test results will be known to the citizens. Some think there is a cavern underneath; others think it is solid rock; most people do not know but are curious. Whatever it is, making sure the creek is not disturbed or damaged is paramount as well as the Salamander and their habit.
Swimming cannot be done in the area from the I-35 Bridge to the Main Street Bridge during the test. Swimming may be done at Pace Park. We have been told the test will not disturb or harm the Salamander. As soon as the tests are completed, the area will re-open for swimming.
Other sewer line news. Beginning in October/November, the first phase of pipe laying will be drilling under I-35 from the east to the west side. Taking approximately a month, the drilling will be done from the low water crossing just south of Fire Station #1, Church Street. As currently planned, Main Street’s sewer line will in January so as not to disturb Holiday events.
Joe Price is working on the second Gateway Sign depicted in the Salado Village Voice. The sign cost is $34,259.73. Contributions may be sent to the Salado Community Foundation a 501-C3.
Finally, please know street crack filling is being done. What was estimated to take 3-years will be completed in 2-years. Also, there will be some inconvenience at the intersection of Salado Plaza and Main Street for paving. Please drive carefully.
