Traffic rerouting to new FM 2268 bridge structure in Salado (Bell County)
Limited traffic movements from Nov. 7 – 10, bridge to be demolished Nov. 11.
WACO — On Thursday, November 7, beginning about 7:00 am, westbound FM 2268 traffic will be routed onto the new FM 2268 bridge.
Westbound FM 2268 traffic will not be allowed to turn north onto the west-side frontage road during the closure due to the construction of the new approach to the crossing, but southbound access-road traffic will be allowed to continue through the intersection.
Eastbound traffic will not be allowed across either the new or the existing bridge until the contractor completes the approach pavement on the west side of the new bridge, which is expected to be opened to traffic on Sunday, Nov. 10. Traffic needing to go east at FM 2268 can make a U-turn at FM 2115 just south of Salado, and then go north on the east-side frontage road to access FM 2268. A special high-early-strength concrete will be used to allow traffic onto the new pavement as quickly as possible.
When the new approach is completed, all normal traffic movements should be restored on the new bridge and frontage road pavement, expected to be completed by the end of Sunday, November 10. The west side frontage road will continue to operate as two-way traffic.
On Monday, Nov. 11, the old FM 2268 bridge is scheduled to be demolished, which will require the new bridge and the mainlanes under the bridge to be closed to all traffic overnight. A separate release will be sent out regarding that closure.
