KILLEEN- U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), Congressman John R. Carter (R-TX31) and Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX 25) will hold a joint press conference the morning of Monday, September 2, to announce new legislation to be introduced in both Houses of Congress that would honor and support the victims of the Nov. 5, 2009 Fort Hood shooting.
The legislation, titled “Honoring the Fort Hood Heroes Act,” would give the military and civilian victims of the 2009 Fort Hood attack the same status that was given to the victims of the attacks on September 11, 2001. All of the victims would be eligible for the Purple Heart Award or the Department of Defense civilian award equivalent. The legislation would also officially label the Nov. 5, 2009 attack as a terrorist attack on the United States.
