It was a battle of wills between Salado’s air-it-out style of offense and Troy’s pounding run game, as the Eagles hosted the Trojans Oct. 18. Troy ultimately won the battle 42-32.

Defense plays prominent role in victory

Nothing is quite as dangerous as a football team seeking its first win, especially in front of a homecoming crowd. This became apparent as the winless Eagles hosted 1-4 Buffaloes Oct. 11.
Regardless of the numerous penalties against the Eagles or the Buffalo offense cutting Salado's lead in the second half; The Eagles still maintained their focus and defeated Florence, 34-12.

It looked as if it could happen.

The daunting top-ranked Cameron Yoe might be undone by the underdog Salado Eagles as fans held their breath when the hosting Eagles took a 21-19 lead in the first quarter.

Eagles host China Spring

Eagles lose to China Spring

Salado Eagles trailed the visiting China Spring Cougars by a touchdown at the half of their Sept. 13 game, but gave up 22 points in the third quarter in the 57-28 losing effort. The loss drops the Eagles to 0-3 as Salado takes the week off before starting district play on Sept. 27 against the #2 Cameron Yoe.

Well, Salado’s contest -- let’s face facts, it was a gunfight from the start -- with the Lorena Leopards Sept. 6 was just like that.

Eagles lose to Rockdale in opener

Rockdale Tigers got off to a fast, furious start of the football season, scoring three times in the first 10 minutes of the game against the visiting Salado Eagles on Aug. 30. Rockdale went on to win the season opener 47-21.
