Taking the high road and staying focused on the goals
Scott Peck wrote in The Road Less Traveled:
“Fearing the Pain involved, almost all of us, to a greater or lesser degree, attempt to avoid problems. We procrastinate, hoping that they will go away. We ignore them, forget them, pretend they do not exist . . . We attempt to get out of them rather than suffer through them.”
Dr. Chris Thurman, “The Lies We Believe,” adds,
“Those who avoid their problems usually end up with more pain in the long run. Those who face their pain save themselves a great deal of unnecessary suffering. It is as simple as that.”
This is not an article on causes of mental illness. It is on the pain Salado is suffering and what to do about it.
Construction. There is no changing the date. It is not fair, honest, or right. However, there is no choice, either complain and become more miserable or get busy and find ways to overcome it.
Sanctuary is coming. A MUD or accepting the terms of the Village. Either, continual conversation must be. Communicate or suffer the consequences of ignorance. A Village cannot be an island unto itself.
Sewer. Due diligence in researching every option was necessary. No one builds a house or a sewer without figuring the cost and the unintended consequences first. The past proves this. Sewer is coming.
Roads. They did not get this way over night. This year, over $200,000 was spent on Village roads. To repair all is approximately 8 million. Approximately $70K for this year and all will be spent on repairs,
Stagecoach. It takes much longer than desired, but when completed; it will be fantastic. We either look forward to the day it opens or bemoan the time it takes.
Criticism. There are Monday quaterbacks, self-centeredness, ego, sour grapes, and people who enjoy hearing themselves talk. As several owners testify, “These people take what is said and twist it for their benefit.” The only solution is taking the highroad and staying focused.
Painful? Yes, but not near as damaging as ignoring it.
