Eight varsity boys tracksters and 10 varsity girls tracksters have qualified for the Area meet April 21 at Liberty Hill High School by placing in the top four at the District 25-4A meet April 12-13 in Burnet.
Sugar Hill and Sarah Kate Kelarek both earned gold medals as part of the 4 X 100 Relay team and silver medals in individual races to lead the Salado girls at the District 25-4A track meet.
The 4 X 100 Meter Relay team of Hill, Katie Robinson, Abby Quick and Sarah Kelarek a ran a time of 50.35 to win the gold medal.
Kelarek also medaled in the 300 Meter hurdles, placing second with a time of 48.01.
Hill ran a time of 15.90 in the 100 Meter Hurdles for the silver.
Brittany Vrooman took second in the discus with a throw of 103-02.
Mariah VaillanCourt took the silver medal in the Triple Jump with a distance of 34-08.50.
Regina Dean medaled in the 100 Meters with a time of 12.89 for bronze.
Katie Robinson earned the bronze medal in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.66.
Placing in the top six to earn points for Salado were these:
Quick, fourth, 200 Meters, 26.56; Macy Thrasher, fourth, 300 Meter Hurdles, 49.38; Kierstan Osborn, fifth, 800 Meters, 2:38.54; VaillanCourt, sixth, Long Jump, 15:04.50; Brianna Washington, sixth, 400 Meters, 1:04.30 and Mikaela Heiner, sixth, 100 Meter Hurdles, 17.33.
The 4X400 relay team of Hayslip, Dean, Danielle McDaniel and Osborn, placed fourth with a time of 4:14.06.
Four Salado boys runners and two relay teams advanced out of the District 25-4A track meet, held in Burnet April 12-13.
Burnet won the meet with 179 points and Llano was second with 121 points. Salado was last with 45 points.
The following Salado boys tracksters will compete at the Area meet this week:
Preston Kimbrough was third place in the 3200 Meter with a time of 10:32.59.
Coby Chambliss was fourth in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 43.85.
Holden Ford was third in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.83. Just behind him was Cutter Hudgens with a time of 15.85 for fourth.
The 4 X 100 Meter Relay team of Jake Harvey, Jake Elliott, Hudgens and Ford was fourth with a time of 44.01.
The 4 X 200 meter Relay team of Harvey, Elliott, Justin Learn and Tyler Stairs was fourth with a time of 1:34.70.
Placing in the top six to score points for the Eagles were Wade Woods, sixth, 800 Meters, 2:09; Kimbrough, fifth, 1600 Meters, 4:46.0; Chambliss, sixth, 300 Meter Hurdles, 45.07; Tyler Armstrong, sixth, discus, 126-10 and Stairs, sixth, Triple Jump, 38-11.50.
The 4 X 400 Meter Relay team of Stairs, Wade Woods, Chambliss and Justin Learn placed fifth with a time of 3:41.21.
Salado JV Boys Track team competed in the District Meet in Burnet April 13.
Hunter Haas placed sixth in the 400 Meter with a time of 57.49.
Jim Reeder placed sixth in the 800 Meters with a time of 2:27.
Bradley Poteet placed fifth in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 18.10.
Poteet placed third in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 46.27.
400 Meter Relay team of Bradley Poteet, Willie Whigham, Kirk Pruitt and Hunter Haas placed fifth with a time of 48.37.
800 Meter Relay team of Caleb Chambliss, Chandler Willhem, Kirk Pruitt and Jake Walrath placed fifth with a time of 1:43.25.
1600 Meter Relay team of Jim Reeder, Zack Garmong, Jake Walrath and Hunter Haas placed sixth with a time of 3:55.78.
Zach Adams placed first in the Shot Put with a distance of 38-04.
Adams placed fifth in the Discus with a throw of 102-08.
Jordan Stockton placed fourth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 14.11.
Stockton placed first in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 28.54.
Ellie Phelps placed fourth in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:51.59.
Erin McBride placed fifth with a time of 2:53.35.
Phelps placed fourth in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 6:33.75. McBride placed sixth with a time of 6:35.33.
