Friends,
“Thank you” remarks are in order.
First: thank you for re-electing me as Mayor. Writing my name as a “write-in” means much. The next 2-years are critical; I will do my very best.
Second: thanks to Hans Fields who ran a very commendable race. There is no doubt how much he loves this community.
Third: Salado Village Voice. Tim and Marilyn have a difficult job representing all sides. They are remarkable.
In last week’s Salado Village Voice, Dave Swarthout’s editorial asked, “What is Next?”
The answer for 2016 is:
I-35 Construction. Last week, met with Mike Kilgore, President, James Construction/Rick Lewis, Regional Engineer. Holding firm with completion date Sept. 30, 2016. TXDoT Executives’ verification: “Good date.”
Stagecoach. The owner’s commitment is solid. Stagecoach refurbishing going forward. Key: I-35 Construction completion. Owner says refurbishing begins then.
Sewer. City Sewer Engineer, KPA: Two permits expected soon: Corps of Engineers and Environmental. Right-a-ways are working. Once done, Bidding/awarding contract occurs. The sewer lines and Water Treatment designs: completed. October: Lines and plant construction start and will be done simultaneously.
Committees: Meeting regularly. Experienced, committed members. Focus: What is best for Salado. Going forward with positive attitude and balanced thinking.
Downtown: TXDoT Executive visiting this week. Purpose: Construction progress, lights, and sidewalks. $3 million in damages and emergency equipment to be discussed.
Low water crossing. Billy Helm will clean. Waiting for dry weather. Generous donations paying for it.
Texas Cultural District. Missed by 250 points last year, close. Every effort to get it this year. Great chance!
Roads. Committee planning summer’s road-work. Be prepared.
Eminent Domain. Not BOA’s intention. Never will be. Please inform those who pass this rumor!
