Services for Delbert Leonard Mattheus, 82, of Salado will be 10 AM, April 30, 2018 at the Historic Chapel of Salado United Methodist Church with Bruce Mercer, chaplain of Kindred Hospice and Dr. David Mosser, pastor of SUMC, officiating. Burial will follow at the SUMC columbarium with military honors.

J. David Stanford, Esq. passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 at his home in Salado, Texas.  He was preceded in death by parents Hulen Preston and Dorothy Jane Knight Stanford and sister Roe Sharon.  He is survived by his devoted daughter Shannon Stanford Seib, husband Brian, loving grandchildren Jackson Preston and Ellyn Ann, of Round Rock, and nephew, Collin Stanford of Austin.  He was a member of Salado United Methodist Church.  [Read more…] about Stanford, J. Memorial services celebrating the life of Jean Marie Scully Morris, 67, of Salado, will be held 11 AM Saturday,  March 24, 2018 at Salado United Methodist Churco h, 650 Royal St, Salado, TX 76571.

Jean passed from this life while surrounded by her beloved family on Monday, March 19, 2018. Mrs. Morris was born to Nelson E. and Janis Scully on New Year’s Day of 1951 in Huntingdon, PA.

Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne Copeland, 81, of Belton will be  held 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Belton. Visitation was held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Kenneth Copeland passed from this life on March 10, 2018 at a local nursing facility. Ken was born at home in Bell County on November 25, 1936 to L.S. and Ethel Copeland.

Oliver, Miram Garrick

Miriam Garrick Oliver

September 26, 1927 – January 31, 2018

Funeral services for Miriam Garrick Oliver, 90, of Belton, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Oliver and Dr. David Mosser officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mary Allen Oliver Community Cemetery.   The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Oliver died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her home in Belton.

Mrs. Oliver was born September 26, 1927 in Norway, South Carolina, the daughter of Martin C. and Cora Lee Brunson Garrick.   She worked in retail in Charleston, South Carolina, where she met Lt. John W. “Jack” Oliver, Jr. She married him 30 days later, on January 30, 1944, which began a 74 year love affair.   As the wife of a career Air Force officer, she raised three children and was active in ensuring the well-being of Airmen and their families. She attended the University of Hawaii and worked as a Base Clinic administrator at multiple bases. After retiring to Central Texas, she was a longtime leader in the Salado United Methodist Church.  She was always active in many community organizations, including serving as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Dr. Sandra Kay Oliver (Dr. R. Wayne Matthews) of Belton; two sons, John Lynn Oliver (Rory) of Belton and  Rev. Robert Bedell Oliver (Anna) of Grand Prairie; one sister, Erma Lamb of Mt. Dora, Florida; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Salado United Methodist Church 650 Royal St., Salado, TX 76571.
