Our whole Village should be so grateful for the leadership that Skip Blancett has provided through his many years of service as our Mayor.

Dear Editor:
There are two Municipalities under which property owners of Salado are subjected to: 1) Bell County Municipal Government and 2) Village of Salado Municipal Government
Dear Editor:
I am currently a non-resident, but both a commercial and residential property owner for the past 15 years in the Village of Salado. My wife and I have raised our three children…set them free….and are now focused on ourselves and our future.
To the Editor:
TRUTH is a rare occurrence in politics; however, the citizens of the Village of Salado have the opportunity to elect someone who will tell you the truth. At the candidate forum last week, Linda Reynolds spoke the truth about whether the roads would be repaired after the work is done. McLean Construction bid was 2 million lower than the others. Now we know why. Danny McCort looked the bid over and Don Ferguson, City Manager, agreed that the contractor has NO responsibility for repair of roads when work is done. Our current mayor clouded the waters by stating the sewer contractor would fix part of the road and the Village of Salado would fix the other part. The Village will purchase the material and Bell County will furnish the labor to fix the roads. Shouldn’t that have been part of the sewer contract?
We need a balance in representation and leadership in our Board of Alderman. After the candidate forum, it was clear which candidates could provide those qualities.
I urge everyone who is eligible to vote in the Village election to seriously consider voting for the candidates who will be truthful and transparent in their service to the Village.

To the Editor:
I’m glad the issue of transparency has been raised by most the non-incumbent candidates for mayor/alderman. Under the current administration so many decisions have been arrived at secretly with undisclosed conflicts of interest.

In response to last week’s letter from Diane Wallin….
Thank you Diane, I too ask questions. I loved that you wrote to the Salado Village Voice and ask questions. You may have noticed that I ask a lot of questions too.

“Art Attack” weekend culminated in a storytelling event at Tablerock on Saturday night, and what a windup it was!

After nearly two years of delays, the Salado city limit signs are finally up. The south approach sign is nearing completion, and with some minor tweaks will be ready to tum on.

John Newman’s response in Thursday’s paper to the “Left Behind” article makes me feel like I was invited to the Range Restaurant for their most expensive dinner and wines, then being told “I am concerned about your finances. To give you a chance to show you are solvent, I am going to let you pay for our dinner.” Please spare me the pretend concern for the south side homeowners.

I consider Nancy Snead a long time friend of my family. Her children and my children went to Salado schools together back in the early 80’s. I respect her as an educator, citizen and a person who still has her independent spirit about her.
