Congregations attempting to boost their racial and ethnic diversity may end up with fewer people in the seats, according to a Baylor University study.
The findings, published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, are based on an analysis of data from more than 11,000 congregations in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ECLA) from 1993-2012, as well as data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Drillers have been practicing and memorizing since early September 2015. They must memorize 25 bible verses, 10 key passages and all 66 Books of the Bible. During drill competition, they have 10 seconds to locate a Key Passage, Book of the Bible or to recall and recite 1 of the 25 verses. There are 3 levels of competition: church, Association and State. 14 of the drillers advanced to State level competition which was held in Houston on April 9.
