.I have a safety concern for pedestrians crossing the Salado Main St. bridge.
Salado businesses largely depend on tourists for their income.
Special events such as the Christmas Stroll, Gathering of the Clans, etc are likewise an important part of marketing Salado as a destination.
There is a safety issue when two families with baby strollers headed in opposite directions meet on Salado’s Main St bridge. One of the families must place their stroller in the north bound lane of traffic in order to pass. (Or hold it over their head which adds other safety issues, besides being pretty silly to imagine.)
In your opinion, what is the best way to address pedestrian congestion encountered when crossing the Salado Main St. bridge during high traffic times?
Thanks in advance and
Kindest Regards.

The recently announced merger between Salado’s two major historical organizations, the Central Texas Area Museum and the Robertson Colony-Salado College Foundation, not only creates a vibrant new history complex but also provides a fresh perspective for the people of Salado to enjoy and support.

To the Editor:
I have lived in many cities, large and small, towns and Villages. I don’t believe in any, except for Salado, where the stopping or parking of vehicles on the pavement of the street with no lights or other means to indicate the vehicle is stopped with impunity. This is done every day in Salado by automobiles, trucks, repair and delivery vehicles.
In a Village like Salado, where there are many trees that cast shade on the road, mixed with bright sunlight, produces a hazard because they are difficult to see, especially dark-colored vehicles and trailers.
It would seem some ordinance would be in place so that the police on their rounds could ticket vehicles in violation thereof.
For safety, I would that if there is no such ordinance, the Village would develop one for the safety of our citizens, visitors and others doing business in Salado. Gate
Sincerely

Last week’s Mayor’s column had the headline, BOA AND CHAIRS ….so I searched back to the BOA minutes from March 3, 2016 to see who had been appointed to the various committees and who chaired the committees.

We are the only RV park in Salado that tell, show and hand out the Jewel magazine book to folks that stay here.

A concern to you and all Salado citizens! Don’t feed the babies or mothers!! This is the number one rule in managing the deer population. The fawns start appearing this month. Don’t pick them up. The mom or pop may attack you.

To the thief/thieves who took the 2 spinners from Sherrill Park on Monday, May 2…….. the spinners were put in the park for all to enjoy! I have always bragged on Salado as being such a great place where everyone respects things that belong to their neighbors. Guess you have just proved me wrong. Wonder if you would like for someone to steal them from your yard. You would probably call the police and report them stolen!
