Salado Eagles came from behind in both of their games against the Lorena Leopards and will now face the Huffman Hargrave Falcons in the Regional Semi-final round of the UIL 4A Baseball playoffs.

Jacob Wilk hit a single, knocking in two runs in the top of the eighth and giving Salado a 7-4 lead over the Lorena Leopards. The Eagles defense gave up a run in the bottom of the eighth but Caleb Self and Ryan Oakes caught fly balls to the outfield and Jacob Wilk struck out a batter to secure the extra inning win for Salado 7-5 on May 18.
The win gave Salado its first win over Lorena in the best-of-three series.

Our favorite stock index, the venerable Standard and Poor’s 500 (SPX) turned in a respectable gain for the week ending May 11, gaining 2.41 percent to end at the memorable number of 2727.72, demonstrating an economy in numeric usage that is almost elegant. More valuable was the fact that it is now up 2.02 percent year-to-date and 14.09 percent from this time last year.
Rod Rosenstein is doing a star turn as principled defender of the law, but he’s performed abysmally as deputy attorney general, and President Donald Trump would be fully justified in firing him.
Thank you to Rodney Bell and Melanie Kirchmeier for their years of service to our students, school district, and community as school board members. Rodney served for ten years (from 2008 through 2018) and Melanie served for six years (from 2012 through 2018). Their leadership and support have contributed to a lot of the many successes that our students and our school district have accomplished during those years.
