Royce Lynn Vernon
Royce Lynn Vernon, age 86 and formerly of Salado, died at home on March 19, 2015 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born on February 21, 1929 in Lockney, Texas and resided in Pflugerville, Texas at the time of his passing.
Ronald Roy Anderson
Ronald Roy Anderson, 80, of Salado died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple after a brief illness.
Anderson was born on February 21, 1935 in McHenry, North Dakota to Norman and Ada Anderson.
On September 24, 1954 he married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Ann Tufte.
For the first two years of their married life, Ron served in the U.S. Army.
Gary Wayne Dobbins
Gary Wayne Dobbins died on March 17, 2015 in Temple, Texas due to complications following cancer surgery. He was 68.
Gary Dobbins was born on June 29, 1946 in Boaz, Alabama to parents, Luther and Patsy Dobbins. He graduated from Killeen High School in 1965. He married Judy Turnbo in 1967. The Dobbins family lived in Killeen until recently retiring to Salado to be closer to their children and their grandchildren.
FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive March 15 at his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas. Bell County Justice of the Peace, Bill Cooke pronounced him deceased at 3:30 p.m.
Sgt. Geraldo Andre Mora-Cruz, 33, whose home of record is listed as San Germán, Puerto Rico, entered active-duty service in August 2000 as an information technology specialist. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 48th Chemical Brigade, Fort Hood, since July 2012.
Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died March 7, 2015 from an apparent gunshot wound at his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas. Bell County Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin pronounced him deceased at 10:20 p.m.
Pfc. Elvis Lee Bingham, 35, whose home of record is listed as Gainesville, Georgia, entered active-duty service in May 2012 as a horizontal construction engineer. He was assigned to the 43rd Engineer Company, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, since October 2012.
Bingham deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from June 2014 to February 2015.
Bingham’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
Marilyn Lavon Pittenger, 80, of Salado, died March 7, 2015 at a local care facility. Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m. March 14 at the Salado Church of Christ, preceded by a visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will be at North Belton Cemetery following the service. Joseph Keyes will be officiating.
Pedro R. “Pete” Coronado, 91, of Salado, passed away March 2, 2015 following a long illness.
He was born February 4, 1924 in Benevides, Texas, the eldest son of Pedro and Otila Coronado.
Shirley D. Thweatt, 79, of Salado passed away on February 16, 2015 in Temple. A memorial service for Mrs. Thweatt will be held at a later date.
Services for Dick Prater were held Feb. 15 at Salado United Methodist Church with burial following at Salado Cemetery.
Richard (Dick) C. Prater, 87, of Salado, died on February 10, 2015 surrounded by his family.
