Salado Eagles are district champions

With a little help from Lorena, Salado is the District 9-4A Champion after the Eagles throttled the Connally Cadets 41-7 on Nov. 10.
Thanks to 3rd Cavalry Regiment Brave Rifles for adopting Salado ISD
All four campuses have been adopted by units from Fort Hood
We greatly appreciate the sacrifice of our veterans, active duty military, and first responders. We have 173 students that are children of active duty military, which represents almost 10% of our 1,856 students.

Empty Bowl on Nov. 11 will benefit Salado Family Relief Fund
Salado Empty Bowl will be 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Salado Intermediate School cafeteria. The fundraiser features soups from many of the Salado restaurants and bed and breakfast inns coupled with a take home pottery bowl from local potters.

Party with the Scots during annual Gathering of Clans and Highland Games
The 56th Scottish Gathering and Highland Games will be held on the grounds of the Salado Civic Center, Nov. 10-12.

DPS Officer killed in the line of duty will be buried in North Belton Cemetery on Nov. 10
AUSTIN – Services for Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Senior Trooper Thomas Nipper will begin Thursday, Nov. 9, in Belton. Trooper Nipper died in the line of duty as a result of a traffic crash in Bell County.

Lady Eagles volleyball season comes to end at hands of Giddings
Salado Lady Eagles lost to the Gidding Lady Buffaloes in the bi-district round of the 4A volleyball playoffs in five sets on Oct. 31, ending their season.

School finance system is both inadequate and inequitable
Texas school funding is $2,550 per student less than national average
The Texas school finance system is both inadequate and inequitable. Funding in Texas is $2,550 per student below the national average each year. An additional $2,550 per student would equate to over an additional $4.7 million per year for our district based on our current enrollment of 1,856 students. Texas is ranked #47 out of the 50 states in per student funding.
