The Village of Salado is one step closer toward being designated as a Cultural District. To the Editor:
I have lived in many cities, large and small, towns and Villages. I don’t believe in any, except for Salado, where the stopping or parking of vehicles on the pavement of the street with no lights or other means to indicate the vehicle is stopped with impunity. This is done every day in Salado by automobiles, trucks, repair and delivery vehicles.
In a Village like Salado, where there are many trees that cast shade on the road, mixed with bright sunlight, produces a hazard because they are difficult to see, especially dark-colored vehicles and trailers.
It would seem some ordinance would be in place so that the police on their rounds could ticket vehicles in violation thereof.
For safety, I would that if there is no such ordinance, the Village would develop one for the safety of our citizens, visitors and others doing business in Salado. Gate
Sincerely
Jack Hardin

A few years ago, the Salado Community Foundation was established as a 501(c)f fully qualified non-profit working to improve the quality of life in Salado and the surrounding community. One of our main projects was the raising of funds to build and install two Gateway Signs that will adorn and provide direction on the north and south entrances to the Village of Salado on Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) rights of way.
Visiting shops and speaking to customers are always interesting and beneficial. Different perspectives are received and recommendations given. At the end-of-the-day, it is as Sterling Robertson said in Jackie Mills’ Salado Legends, “We’ve got a town that’s full blown. This little village is great!”

If only we could get to know the real Hillary Clinton.
Unveiling the Hillary we supposedly don’t know has been the perpetual, elusive goal of Clinton’s handlers for decades, with the Democratic convention in Philadelphia the latest stab at it. Hillary has made more reintroductions than should be allowed for a person who has never gone away.

A few months ago, news broke of an astounding assault on free speech. No, the media didn’t present it that way, but that’s how some conservatives, myself included, characterized it. And with good reason.
The assault in question came via a group of Democratic attorneys general. This group of 16 had banded together as “AGs United for Clean Power.”
