1999 Obituaries

Parker, Dan M.

Memorial services for Dan M. Parker, of Salado, will be 10 a.m. June 24 at Salado United Methodist Church.

Mr. Parker passed away June 20, 1999. He was born in Hattiesburg, MS on January 31, 1919.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. June 23 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Salado on Stagecoach Rd.

Mr. Parker lived in Salado with his wife, Gerrie R. Parker since 1981.

He retired here from Nashville, TN, where he was an office manager for NCR. He was an active member of the Salado Lions Club.

Mr. Parker served in the Army in Europe during World War II.

He and Gerrie were married on August 1, 1941.

He is survived by his wife Gerrie R. Parker of Salado; his daughter Margaret P. Honeycutt and her husband James Honeycutt, of Georgetown; his son Dan M. Parker, J., of Dalton, GA; and two sisters; Margaret Barrett and Mary Louis Ashcraft.

He is also survived by a grandson, Todd and his wife Kim Honeycutt; and great grandchild Brandon Honeycutt.

McCracken, Jim R.

Memorial services for Jim R. McCracken of Salado will be held at the Salado United Methodist Church 10 a.m. May 22.

He died May 13 in Harker Heights.

He was born in Oklahoma City to Mack R. And Stella B. McCracken on May 25, 1930. He worked for General Motors Insurance division for 35 years working in Oklahoma City, San Francisco, New York City, El Paso, Kansas City, Charlotte, N.C. and Los Angeles. He retired in 1989 and moved to Salado.

He was an active volunteer in Salado community affairs. He was given the “Community Builder of the Year,” award by the Salado Masonic Lodge #296 in 1998. He was a member of the Lions Club, served on the board of trustees for the Salado Public Library, was a member of the COPS program and was an elder at the Presbyterian Church of Salado.

Survivors are his wife Virginia of Salado, a daughter, Molly Henry of Arlington, two sons, Patrick of Idaho Falls, ID, and Matthew of Houston; his mother and father Mr. & Mrs. Mack R. McCracken of Eddy; two sisters Norma Graham of Holly Lake and Anita Young of Rogers, AR., 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the home, 702 De Grummond Way, Salado, from 5-7 p.m. on May 21.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Salado, American Cancer Society, or the Salado Public Library.

Harper Talasek Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
