S&P gains 2.41% in one week

Our favorite stock index, the venerable Standard and Poor’s 500 (SPX) turned in a respectable gain for the week ending May 11, gaining 2.41 percent to end at the memorable number of 2727.72, demonstrating an economy in numeric usage that is almost elegant. More valuable was the fact that it is now up 2.02 percent year-to-date and 14.09 percent from this time last year.
