Even when Hurricane Harvey seems like a distant memory, the students, teachers and community in the small, rural coastal town of Refugio, are still dealing with the ramifications. For the last 10 months, Refugio ISD educators have balanced meeting the basic needs of students, rebuilding homes and schools, and supporting traumatized students while providing some normalcy through school activities.
This week we wrap up another great school year for the Salado Independent School District. The following are the remaining events for this school year:
Congratulations to Salado High School eleventh grade student Zack Shaver and Salado High School science teacher Katy Leiskau for being recognized by Congressman John R. ‘Judge’ Carter from our Texas Congressional District 31. Zack was recognized as a “Carter A-Lister” and Katy Leiskau was recognized as a Carter Educator.

Thank you to Rodney Bell and Melanie Kirchmeier for their years of service to our students, school district, and community as school board members. Rodney served for ten years (from 2008 through 2018) and Melanie served for six years (from 2012 through 2018). Their leadership and support have contributed to a lot of the many successes that our students and our school district have accomplished during those years.

The Salado ISD Bond Election Day is this Saturday, May 5. Voting will take place at the Salado Civic Center (Salado ISD Administration Building) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On February 12, the Salado ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a bond election to be held on May 5, 2018.
