Lady Eagles are 20-5 with recent wins

Salado Lady Eagles are 20-5 after sweeping Academy Lady Bees and Killeen Lady Roos in straight sets of volleyball recently.

The girls beat Killeen 25-21, 25-15 and 25-20 on Sept. 8.

The Lady Eagles attacked the net with 33 kills in the match. Cheyenne Vaca led the squad with 15 kills. Malory Schattle followed with six kills. Also recording kills were Brianna Washington and Tori Dekay, four kills each,  Payton Dreitz, three kills and Meagan Hill, one kill.

Schattle and Kierstan Osborn had one service ace each.

The girls had 73 digs defensively, led by Schattle, with 17. Hill followed with 16; Kerrigan Hearne had 13 and Kierstan Osborn had 12. Also recording digs were Vaca and Lindy Martin, five each, Dekay, three and Washington, two.

Hill led the girls with 32 assists and Osborn had one.

Washington and Schattle both blocked two shots while Hill, Dekay and Payton Dreitz each had a block.

The girls swept Academy in a non-district match 25-18, 25-23 and 25-21.

The girls had 29 kills in the match, led by Cheyenne Vaca, 11 kills, Tori Dekay, eight kills,  Payton Dreitz and Malory Schattle, four kills each and Meagan Hill, two kills.

Hill had four blocks to lead Salado. Also recording blocks were Schattle, and Dreitz, two each and Brianna Washington, Dekay and Vaca, one each.

Vaca led the girls in service aces with three in the match, while Kierstan Osborn, Schattle and Hill each had one ace.

Defensively, Osborn led the girls with 17 digs, followed by Schattle and Kerrigan Hearne, 12 digs each, Vaca and Lindy Martin, 11 digs each, Hill, six digs, Dekay, three digs and Dreitz, two digs.

Hill had 28 assists in the game while Schattle had one.

Salado will play Groesbeck in a non-district match on Sept. 18 with varsity starting at 5 p.m.
