Memorial services for Irma Naomi Vernon, 87, of Pflugerville, formerly of Salado were held 10 a.m., Saturday, October 29 at First Baptist Church, Round Rock, Texas with Bob Hawkins officiating.

Irma Vernon died October 25, 2016 at her residence.  She was born April 19, 1929 in Bryan, Texas.  She married her high school sweetheart Royce Vernon on May 11, 1946.

Irma decided after the children were grown to return to school, getting her undergraduate degree from University of Texas followed by her master’s degree from Texas Women’s University.  She was a counselor up until her retirement.  She also loved to paint and was a part of the art community in Salado.  Sewing was her other passion.

She is preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her brother, Charles Horton, Belton and children, Irma Lynn Rutherford, Sharon Elaine Vernon and Royce Edmund Vernon.  She has 2 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the First Baptist Church, 306 Round Rock Ave., Round Rock, TX. 78664.
