FORT HOOD, Texas – Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive December 14 in San Antonio. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Specialist August Germarne Britto, 25, of San Antonio, joined the military in May 2006 as a unit supply specialist and was assigned to Company F, 1st Air and Missile Defense Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Hood since September 2009.
Britto deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2007 to December 2008.
Britto’s awards and decorations include the two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Dec. 2, 2010 in Temple, Texas.
Specialist Travis Brenton Donnell, 32, of Dallas, joined the military in October 1997 as a military policeman. He arrived at Fort Hood in July 2006, and was assigned to 178th Military Police Detachment, 89th Military Police Brigade, since February 2010.
Donnell deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2004 to February 2005 and May 2007 to July 2008. He also deployed in support of operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina from October 2002 to July 2003.
Donnell’s awards and decorations include four Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, three Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Ribbons, NATO Medal and two Driver and Mechanic Badges.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Nov. 26 in Killeen, Texas, from injuries suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.
Private First Class Bryant Michael Evans, 22, of Dayton, Ohio, joined the military in January 2010 as a multiple launch rocket system crewmember. He was assigned to Battery A, 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Fires Brigade, since October 2010.

Private First Class David Dustin Finch
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation New Dawn.
Private First Class David Dustin Finch, 24, of Bath Springs, Tenn., died Dec. 8, 2010 in An Numaniyah, Wasit Province, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small-arms fire.
Finch joined the military in September 2009 as a cavalry scout. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, in February 2010 and deployed in support of Operation New Dawn in August 2010.
Finch’s awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Nov. 30, 2010 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, from a pre-existing illness.
Sergeant Marc H. Laster, 41, of Constantinople, Mich., joined the military in April 1980 as a crane operator, and most recently served as a chemical operations specialist. He was assigned to 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since February 2009.
Laster deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2004 to May 2004 and October 2006 to December 2007.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation New Dawn. Private First Class David R. Jones Jr., 21, of Saint Johnsville, N.Y., died Oct. 24 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident.
Jones joined the military in October 2009 as a cannon crew member and was assigned to Howitzer Battery, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since March 2010.
Jones deployed in support of Operation New Dawn in August 2010.
Jones’ awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal ,Iraqi Campaign Medal with combat service star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Corporal Jason Anthony Savage, 24, of Mineral Wells, Texas, joined the military in June 2008 as an infantryman and was assigned to Company B, 2nd
Battalion, 5th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since October 2008. Savage deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2009 to January 2010.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier and his wife who died of apparent gunshot wounds Sept. 26 in their on-post residence here.
Sergeant Michael Timothy Franklin and Jessie Ann Franklin had two children: one daughter, 6, and one son, 2. The children are currently being cared for by Fort Hood’s child protective services.
Michael Franklin, 31, of Middletown, R.I., joined the Army in August 2005 as a motor transport operator. He was assigned to Fort Hood in October 2005 and was currently assigned to 115th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2006 to January 2008 and February 2009 to January 2010.

Baldemar Gonzales, 39, of Victoria, Texas, joined the military in November 1990 and served as an air defense system crewman and later as an artilleryman and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Warrior Transition Brigade, Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, Fort Hood, in September 2010.
Gonzales deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm from December 1990 to June 1991 and Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2003 to March 2004.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Sept. 25 from an apparent gunshot wound in Copperas Cove, Texas.
Sergeant Timothy Ryan Rinella, 29, of Chester, Va., joined the military in April 2000 as a light-wheel vehicle mechanic and was assigned to Fort Hood in May 2008. He was assigned to the 509th Forward Support Company, 504th Special Troops Battalion, III Corps, here.
Rinella deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2003 to August 2003, June 2004 to June 2005 and August 2008 to August 2009. He also deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from January 2007 to January 2008.

Linda was born on July 1, 1940, the daughter of E.F. (Rip) and Marie Blair Lanham. She attended Belton and Temple schools and graduated from the University of Texas in 1962.

Sgt. 1st Class Ferdinando Jerod Gandy, 36, of Florence, S.C., died Aug. 25, 2010 at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, N.C., from a preexisting illness.
Gandy joined the Army in September 1992 as a power-generation equipment repairer and later changed career fields to a mental health specialist.

Maldonado joined the Army in October 2008 as a combat engineer. He was assigned to 510th Clearance Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas, since July 2010. He deployed to Afghanistan in December 2009.

Sgt. 1st Class Fuatia Tia Theus, 38 of Honolulu, Hawaii, died at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas on Aug. 16.
Theus joined the Army in December 1990 as a human resources specialist. She was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, Warrior Transition Brigade, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center since July 2010.

Specialist Armando Galvan Aguilar Jr., 26, of Blessing, Texas, was pronounced deceased at Hillcrest Hospital, Hewitt, Texas.
Aguilar joined the military in October 2007 as a combat engineer and was assigned to 87th Sapper Company, 8th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, since February 2008.
Aguilar deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2008 to July 2009.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Aug. 14, 2010.
Private First Class David Keith Stewart, 45, of Madison, Miss., was found unresponsive in his barracks’ room and transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Stewart joined the military in June 2007 as a motor transport operator. He was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, Warrior Transition Brigade, CRDAMC, since November 2009.
Stewart’s decorations and awards include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Sergeant Delquan Robert Matthews, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y., joined the military in September 2006 as a aviation operations specialist. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, III Corps, since July 2008.
Matthews deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from June 2008
to June 2009.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found dead in his apartment July 29 in Killeen, Texas.
Sergeant Bradley Dale Penman, 34, of Punxsutawney, Pa., joined the military in July 1994 as a combat engineer. He was assigned to Company E, 3rd Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since May 2010.
Penman deployed to South Korea from October 1994 to November 1995 and October 1997 to December 1998. He also deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March 2004 to March 2005 and October 2006 to December 2007.

Dr. John Allen Barton, Jr. (1929-2010)
Dr. John Allen Barton, Jr. passed away on July 28, 2010 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born on November 14, 1929 in the same hospital to John Allen and Edna Gist Barton. He graduated from Salado High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1947. He received a B.S. from Baylor University and graduated from Baylor University College of Dentistry in 1954. He was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. He served his first assignment as an intern at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, where he met Patricia Anne Lawshe on a blind date arranged by friends. They were married on August 13, 1955 in San Antonio.

“Patti” Youngblood of Salado died in the Scott & White critical care ICU unit July 14th. She was born in Temple, TX April 13, 1953 to Preston and Hazel Sagebiel Kelly. She graduated Academy ISD and worked in Houston for Aramco Services Company. She married Alan Youngblood in 1987 and subsequently moved to Saudi Arabia returning after retirement to their home in Salado in 2000.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died July 15. Sergeant 1st Class Vincent Gines, 48, of Cotter, Ariz., collapsed during a softball game and was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center by EMS where he was pronounced deceased.
Gines joined the military in October 1989 as a cannon crewmember and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 393rd Regiment, 479th Field Artillery Brigade, 120th Infantry Brigade, 1st Army Division West, Fort Hood, since July 2009.
Gines deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch April to November 1998, Operation Enduring Freedom from March 2004 to March 2005, and Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2007 to November 2008.

Sergeant Irvin Albert Mitchell Jr., 25, of Picayune, MS., joined the military in January 2005 as an avionic mechanic. Funeral services for Ed Baker, 84, of Salado were held January 12 at Salado United Methodist Church. Travis Franklin officiated. Interment followed at Salado Cemetery.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Monday, Jan. 1 in Phoenix, Arizona of injuries suffered as a result of a gunshot wound.
Spc. Jonathan L. Hughey, 24, of Phoenix, AZ., joined the military in March 2007 as an wheeled vehicle mechanic. He was assigned to Forward Support Company, 62nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade since October 2009.

Lois Mae Watson Shepperd passed away New Year’s Day, 2010 at the age of 96, in a Belton Nursing Home. She was born on November 10, 1913 to Ausie and Bertie Mae Capps Watson. She was the second oldest in her family of four brothers; Foster, Harold, Dick and Joe Watson and three sisters; Inez Buford, Osie Baker and Josie Cearley. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Lois was a lifelong resident of Salado.
