Salado Lady Eagles are 7-1 in the young softball season after competing in the recent Franklin Softball tournament.

If Salado had not faced the Caldwell Lady Hornets in the first round of the Franklin Tournament, they would have likely met in the final. But the luck of the draw gave the Lady Eagles their first loss of the young softball season as Caldwell’s Casey Kauder recorded 16 strikeouts as the Lady Hornets won 2-0.
Malory Schattle was the only Lady Eagles to get a hit, with a fourth inning single. Abbie James and CeCe Cantu also got to base on walks.
Meagan Hill struck out seven batters and allowed five hits and two earned runs. Blair Clayton scored in the second inning after singling, knocked in by Britani Baker’s triple.
Gaby Martinez led off the fifth with a single and scored on a sacrifice.

The Lady Eagles bounced back from the shut out loss by taking no mercy on the Navasota Lady Rattlers, winning 13-0 in a shortened game.
The girls scored a run in the first inning, three in the second. Calder hit a two-run homerun in the fourth and James hit a solo homerun in the five-run third inning. The girls added a run in the fourth.
Meagan Hill allowed just one hit and no runs in the game.

Salado crushed North Zulch 15-0 in the final round of the Franklin Tournament to take home the Consolation prize.
The Lady Eagles scored seven runs in the first inning, five in the secod and three more in their third at-bat.
