Talbott resigns as AD
Salado ISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Glenn Talbott resigned his position Feb. 13, effective at the end of his contract on June 30.
Talbott leaves the district after three years as AD and head football coach and nine years in Salado schools. In his three years as head football coach, Salado Eagles were 8-22.
“I understand that my skills as an athletic director were not a good match for your vision of Salado ISD,” Talbott stated in his Feb. 13 letter of resignation to Superintendent Michael Novotny. “Although you know that I disagree with that assessment, I understand that in this business sometimes you just have to agree to disagree.”
“I appreciate the opportunities Salado ISD has given me over the past three years for professional and personal development,” Talbott stated.
The position has been posted and applications will be accepted through March 8, according to Dr. Novotny.
The district will hold two meetings on Feb. 28, one with district employees and one with parents, to determine the characteristics that the district seeks in its next athletic director.
A committee comprised of six employees, three parents and two students will meet March 4-8 to narrow the pool of applicants for interviews.
Two rounds of interviews will be done, March 18-22 and March 25-29 with a recommendation coming before school trustees on April 1.
