Andrew Malcolm Scharf was born in New Jersey on September 9, 1948 to Amiel Scharf and Rhoda Fruitman Scharf. He passed away on February 19, 2023. A celebration of life is planned for Sept. 9.
He attended college in Oklahoma, Florida and New Jersey, earning a degree in Art Education.
He and his wife Dolly were married while he taught art in the Bahamas in 1976.
He met his second wife Reba Saxon while living in New Mexico. He was an artisan builder, creating his famous cave house Bedrock and another house for his family. They moved to Texas where he continued a career in building. After 27 years of marriage and raising two sons, Andy and Reba split.
He reconnected with Dolly and the two of them moved to Salado in 2015, buying a home together. While here, he recently completed his final masterpiece, The Garden House.
He is predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by Dorothy Kunz Wilson (Dolly), sons Jacob Scharf and Noah Scharf, step-daughter Barbara Lehrhoff and her husband Richard, three grandchildren and numerous nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
