Art exhibit continues through Oct. 23 at Salado Civic Center
Jesse Lane’s “Drift” was named the Best of Show at the arTexas reception Oct. 8 at the Salado Civic Center, receiving the $1,000 Lorraine E. Peterson memorial award.
It is one of dozens of artworks on display through Oct. 23 at the Salado Civic Center as part of the arTexas Juried Art Show and Competition.
Awards were announced in several media, including drawing, oils, acrylics, 3D sculpture, fiber and photography.
The $500 Jacob Foster Memorial award for drawing was presented to Marilyun Kovacs for her drawing “Roadside I-35.” Other award winners in that division include Deborah Martin, second place, “Blue Heron,” and Martin, third place, “Day Lilly in Crystal.”
Jane Horton was named the Fiber Art Memorial Winner for her “Walking Away” piece. Pam Jerrigan won second place with her “Garden Path” and Rachele Misiti was third place with her “Man of War in Mohair.”
The $500 VeAnne Stowell award for Watercolor went to VeAnne Stowell for her “Doorway” painting. Barry Selman was second place with “Rising Star Sunset.” He was also third place for “Urban Passage.”
The $500 Larry Robertson Memorial Award in Photography went to JOHN.JOHN Montelongo for “Adam’s House.” Second place was Deborah Leonard’s “Pursepective” and third place was Jade Wollengberg’s “Towering.”
Allen Sirois’s “RecylcaGoat” won the 3-D Sculpture $500 Lester Stubblefield Memorial award. Second place in sculpture was Sheryl Russell, “Ballet Bow” and third place was Melissa Paxton “Bristlecone Pine Nude.”
Sirois was also the $500 Claudia Stubblefield Memorial scholarship.
HBD won the $500 Barbara Wallace Memorial award in Acrylic or Oil painting for his “The Lizard” painting. Diane Littlejohn was second place for “Quiet Arrival” and Matthew Wells was third place for “Santa Elena Cany.”
The Mixed-Media $500 Ivy Rollins memorial award went to Michael Pritchett for his “3D Pheonix.” Lynda Robinson was second place with “Home That Made Us” and Sharon McGlasson was third for “City Playing.”
