Artilla Patton
Artilla Patton 91 passed away on October 14, 2011, after an extended illness. She passed away in a nursing home in St. Louis, MO.
She was a member of Salado First Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at Salado First Baptist Church 2 p.m. Oct. 28 Dr. W. D. Broadway will officiate.
Artilla was born June 27, 1920 to Mina McNeese Horton and Charlie Horton. She married Benny Cameron Patton on July 21, 1939.
To this union was born two children Benny Floyd (Biff) Patton and Gwendolyn (Gwen) Patton Bowling. Both children survive her.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, eight great-grand-children and one great great grandchild.
Two sisters Irma Vernon, formerly of Salado, and Ruth Westberry of Oklahoma; one brother Charles E. Horton of Belton are also among survivors.
Artilla attended public schools and after her children were out of public school she worked her way up to become president and CEO of a large credit union which she managed until her retirement.
Her remains were cremated and placed next to her late husband in the Masonic section of a cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
