Last year, Salado Athletic Booster Club funded $73,023 to Salado student athletes and athletic programs.
The success of the Booster Club is due chiefly to the support of sponsors, an annual Reverse Raffle and an annual golf tournament in the spring that raises money for scholarships to qualifying Salado seniors.
The Annual Athletic Booster Reverse Raffle, Dinner and Dance will be Sept. 21 at Tenroc Ranch Blue Heron room.
Tickets are $150 with a $50 mulligan also available and will admit two people for dinner and drinks (beer, wine and margaritas) and a night of dancing to live music by Fireside band out of Temple. The event is for those 21 and over.
Only 250 tickets are available with the grand prize of a $3,000 VISA Gift Card being drawn at the very end of the night. Second prize is a $1,500 VISA Gift Card and third place prize is a $500 VISA Gift Card.
There will be an auction of a second chance ticket when there are only 10 tickets remaining in the drawing.
The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 6 p.m. The dance and computer-drawn raffle begins at 7 p.m.
Fireside will play country and southern rock during the evening.
Fireside is Tim Easter, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist; Steve Meiman, lead guitar, and vocals; Greg Duty, piano, keyboards and vocals; Russel Black, bass, guitar and vocals; Ronnie Strawn, drums, percussion and vocals and Darrel Green, steel guitar and vocals
There will also be live and silent auctions for local sports and pro sports memorabilia and other items throughout the night.
The Boosters still have Eagle Event sponsorships available for $1,500, which includes signage at the event, four tickets and four mulligans for the night and a reserved table for eight people.
The Athletic Boosters raised over $73,000 last year for local sports programs and students chiefly through the success of the Reverse Raffle.
“Every year the Athletic Director, in cooperation with his coaching staff, develops a list of needs, in addition to those that the SISD school budget will cover,” Booster Club President Curtis Crenwelge said. “Every sport is taken into consideration and the total amount needed is determined. The Booster Club’s primary function is to raise the necessary funds to fulfill those needs.”
Last year, in addition to 19 $500 scholarships to graduating Salado athletes, the Athletic Boosters provided the following funds:
Football, $10,000; Volleyball, $5,250; Cross Country (boys and girls), $3,200; Golf (boys and girls), $2,250; Basketball (boys and girls), $9,000; Track (boys and girls), $2,900; Tennis (boys and girls), $1,750; Baseball, $4,303; Softball, $4,800; Power Lifting (boys and girls), $1,850; Cheerleading, $1,320; Soccer (boys and girls), $5,700; Universal Sports Items (boys and girls), $3,300; Strength and Speed Development equipment, $4,500; Field Equipment, $500; Other Donations to SISD, $2,900.
