Battershell passes away at age 75 in Temple
Dave Battershell, age 75, of Georgetown, formerly of Houston, died January 20 in Temple. He was born August 16, 1926 in Fairy, Texas, to Samuel and Mary Lucille Battershell.
After graduating from Hico High School, he served in World War II, in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre from 1944 to 1946. Dave graduated with honors from the University of Texas, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1949. Soon after graduation, he began working for the Texas Company in Port Author. On June 16, 1951, he married Mary Ann Reeves, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a member of Proctor Street Baptist Church.
In 1953, he began a long career with Hudson Engineering in Houston, Texas, last serving as President of the company before retirement in the 1980’s. Dave was a charter member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston. He served on the board of directors of Peerless Manufacturing in Dallas for 21 years.
In 1996, Dave and Mary Ann moved to Georgetown. While in Georgetown, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, where he served as deacon.
He leaves his wife of over 50 years, Mary Ann Batter hell of Georgetown; on, Ben Lewi Battershell and wife, Pima of Austin; son, Brian Battershell and wife Robin of Belton, Texas; grandchildren, David, Sam, and Kara Battershell of Austin; and Daniel, Christopher, and Lauren Battershell, of Belton. He also leaves brothers, Ray Battershell of Hico, Texas, and James
Battershell of Waco; and sister, Mary Ard of Waco.
Preceding him in death, were his parents, Samuel and Mary Lucille Battershell, and brother Samuel Battershell.

Graveside services were held on January 23 at Liberty Hill Cemetery.
