Bettie Sue Sutton Pinkham of Lyman, South Carolina passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2013 at the age of 71 after a lengthy illness. She was born July 20, 1942 to Claude and Lesta Cockrell Sutton of Salado, Texas.
Pinkham grew up in Salado and attended school at the Old Red Schoolhouse. She attended Draughton Business School in Austin, Texas. She was a descendant of the Anderson Sutton family who settled in Bell County before the Civil War.
She married William Maxwell (Bill) Pinkham on May 2, 1963. She and Bill were in the trucking business for 40 years.
She was a member of the Masonic Order of the Eastern Stars of Boiling Springs, South Carolina.
Pinkham loved to be in the outdoors, deer hunting, fishing and camping with her husband and son. Fried catfish was her specialty. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved her adopted state of South Carolina, but missed bluebonnets and Texas family. Until her illness, she always kept in touch with her family in Texas with cards and letters.
Survivors include a son, Billy Lee Pinkham and wife Pam of Cross Anchor, South Carolina; a beloved granddaughter: Mandy Garvin of Joanna, South Carolina; and a beloved grandson: Cky Barrios of Orlando, Fl. Three great grandchildren: Hunter, Natalie and Alyssa Clevenger of Joanna, SC; a brother, Elwood Sutton and wife Beverly; sister: Linda Nell Moore and husband Monroe; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Pinkham in 2007, and brother, D.L. Sutton in 2004. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
