Betty Dale Bratton, 94, of Monarch Beach, California, passed away at her home, on April 14, 2013.
She was born on February 13, 1919, in Glendale, California, to Roland and Ruth Thume. Betty graduated from Glendale High School and from Glendale Junior College. She worked for several years as a dental assistant.
Betty married William Edward Bratton, on May 30, 1942, at the Church of the Angels, in Pasadena. Bill preceded her in death in 2008. Married 65 years, Betty and Bill provided constant examples of commitment, love, and generosity to their family and countless others. Betty devoted her entire life
to being a loving homemaker and to nurturing her daughters, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.
The Bratton family lived in La Canada, California, from 1955 to 1972, where Betty was involved in community activities, and where she supported her 3 daughters’ endeavors. Betty and Bill were avid golfers and belonged to Oakmont Country Club.
The Brattons owned and developed the historic Stagecoach Inn, of Salado, Texas, from l959 to l999. Betty especially helped maintain the family recipes and the charm of the well known resort. Upon their retirement, Betty and Bill were named “Honorary Mayors” of Salado for their rich contributions to the community.
The Brattons retired to Orange County’s Monarch Beach in 1972, where Betty enjoyed the ocean and its beauty, golf, and water color painting. Their home of 41 years has been the gathering place for 4 generations.
She is survived by her three daughters: Dale Schumacher, of Ashland, Oregon, Janet Gravette, of Salado, Texas, and Donna Bratton-Kearns, of Pleasanton, California. Betty is also survived by her seven grandchildren and by her thirteen great grandchildren.
Services will take place on May 11, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Angels in Pasadena, followed by internment at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
