Services for Billy D. Parker, of Harker Heights, were held at 2 p.m. December 28, 2013 at First Baptist Church-Trimmier in Killeen. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville.

Parker died December 25, 2013, from complications of a stroke suffered Dec. 17. He was born March 29, 1936, in Bell County to Dee Davis and Clara Parker. He was a lifelong resident of Bell County.

He graduated from Salado High School in 1953, and moved to Killeen in 1956. He worked for William Cameron Lumber Company, Killeen Lumber and Killeen Savings and Loan, where he served in various positions, including president, until 1975. He made a move to full-time real estate broker (Parker & Sutton Real Estate) and appraiser in 1976. He actively appraised properties in the Fort Hood area since 1959, and was involved in the development of several residential subdivisions including Sutton Place in Harker Heights.

Parker was actively involved during the 1960s and ’70s in community service, serving in various organizations including president of the Killeen Exchange Club from 1962 to 1963, Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, American Cancer Society, Homebuilders of Central Texas, president of Killeen Quarterback Club and was honored as ABWA Globe Chapter Boss of the Year.

He enjoyed family, friends, golfing and ranching.

He was a member of First Baptist Church-Trimmier, Killeen Masonic Lodge and the Fort Hood Association of Realtors.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Anna Jean; his brother, Kenneth; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; brother, Mike of Belton and his wife, Sally; daughter, Debra Dollins of Georgetown and her husband, Mark; son, Ronnie Parker of Harker Heights and his wife, Linda; three grandchildren, Adam Parker and his wife, Carrie, of Harker Heights, Meagan Dollins of Austin and Travis Parker and his wife, Kerri, of Killeen; four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Bevin, Brock and Wesley; stepdaughters, Beverly Howell of Salado and her husband, Steve Creek, and Pam Wolff of Gatesville; and numerous other family members.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Trimmier or a charity of choice.

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen was in charge of arrangements.
