Bobby Gene Luther

Funeral services for Bobby “Grumpy” Gene Luther, 69, of Temple were held August 13, 2011 at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Billy Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Salado Cemetery.

Bobby was born in Belton on December 7, 1941 to the late Claude (C.E.) and Ivy Lawson Luther.  

He graduated from Salado High School and worked for the State of Texas Highway Department for 34 years.  He married Catherine Wood on February 23, 2002 in Salado.

Luther died in a Temple hospital August 10, 2011 after a battle against lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents C.E. and Ivy Luther and his former wife, Frances Hess Luther.

Survivors include his wife Cathy Luther of Temple; sons, C.W. Luther and wife Hope of Temple, Donny Luther and wife Charlotte of Belton, and Jeffery Wood of Granbury; one daughter, Amber Wood Dreibelbis and husband J. Travis of McKinney; two grandchildren, Blake Luther and Lauren Luther both of Temple; and one sister, Joann Walker of Morgans Point.

Visitation was held at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton.
