Brownie Alice Neason McDougald Burwell, 94, passed away December 7, 2015.
She was born in Shiro, Texas to John Edward and Annie Brown (ne Ross) Neason on January 8, 1921.
She was graduated from Navasota High School and subsequently earned both the Bachelor and Master degrees from Sam Houston State.
She taught school in Iola, Anderson and Deer Park, Texas, retiring from teaching after 35 years of service.
She married Thurman Lee McDougald in 1941 and they had two children.
Following Thurman’s death, she married Percy Shippy Burwell.
Her parents, spouses, and five siblings, Hattie Sandel, Homer Neason, Cora Foster, John Neason, and Bill Neason preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Thurman McDougald and Serena McDougald Whitley; two grandchildren Lara Whitley Franklin (Travis) and Alicia Whitley Loeffler (Michael); three great-grand children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Shiro Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Salado United Methodist Church, Salado, Texas, with The Rev. Lara Whitley Franklin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Wesleyan Homes Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 486, Georgetown, Tx 78627.
