Casey passes away at age 81
Wayne F. Casey, Sr., 81, of Salad died Oct. 14 2003 in a Temple hospital.
Services were held Oct. 18 at the Salado Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O.B. Casey officiating. Burial followed in the Salad Cemetery with military honors.
Casey was born Feb. 26, 1922 in Temple to James F. And Linda Walker Casey.
During World War II, he served in the Army with Company I, 143 Infantry, 36th Division and during the Korean conflict with the 24th Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was discharged from the Army with the rank of Master Sergeant.
On Dec. 16, 1944, he and Lois Woolley were married in Temple. After his military service, Casey worked in Civil Service at Ft. Hood for over 20 year, after that he was a carpenter in Bell County.
His famous hobby was fishing. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, C.M. Casey.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Casey of Salad; son Wayne F. Casey, Jr. of Belton; brothers, O.B. Casey of Oklahoma and Albert Casey of Troy; sisters, Evelyn Fritz of Quitman and Frances Tippit of Houston; seven great-grandchildren.
