Salado aldermen approve master development agreement with new owner tonight

Clark Lyda confirmed to Salado Village Voice this evening that Stagecoach 1943 LP, owned through the Lyda family trust, has closed the purchase of Stagecoach Inn property, including the restaurant, hotel and conference facilities from Terry Potts.
Tonight, Salado Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a Master Development Plan with Stagecoach 1943, LP, followed immediately by approval of a Master Development Agreement and a Tourism Marketing Agreement with Stagecoach 1943.

Group will purchase historic hotel, restaurant and make top-to-bottom changes

Stagecoach Inn has closed its operations for an extensive top-to-bottom renovation that may take more than two years to finish.

Bell County issues marriage license to same sex couple

County Clerk: Reasonable accommodations will be made for Deputy Clerks who oppose issuing marriage licenses

This morning, Bell County Clerk Shelley Coston’s office issued the first marriage license for a same sex marriage, following the June 26 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court making same sex marriage in all 50 states.

Bell County Clerk refuses to issue licenses to same-sex couples

Tracy McCloud and Roxanne Patrick. — Tracy McCloud, formerly of Salado, and Roxanne Patrick of Belton went to the Bell County County Clerk’s office today to get a wedding license, but were refused by the office. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage this morning

Bell County Clerk Shelley Coston has refused to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples today. An email is taped to the front of the clerk’s office windows in the Bell County Justice Complex that licenses will not be issued until the office receives legal guidance.

Fraser will not seek another term

At the close of the Legislative session, State Senator Troy Fraser announced that he will not seek another term for the Texas Senate.

“It is with a heavy heart, an overwhelming sense of pride, and not an ounce ofregret, that I am announcing I will not seek another term for Texas Senate,” Sen. Fraser said this afternoon.

The District 8 Farm and Ranch Seminar will be offered at 12 locations across District 8. The majority of the program will be presented through the Internet with live interactive streaming video allowing Extension to utilize speakers from across the state.

Clearwater UWCD regulates groundwater in Bell County

Since its creation in 1999, the Clearwater Underground Water Control District (CUWCD) has registered 4,925 wells and permits for wells in Bell County.

Of those registrations, 4,060 are grandfathered exempt wells. Another 709 are also exempt wells, according to Leland Gersbach, president of the board of directors of the CUWCD.
