At 6:15 a.m. on June 22, an armed suspect entered the Sonic Drive-in on the southbound access road, robbing it. Cash was taken and no employees were injured. On Jun 26, Salado Police Department referred the case to the Bell County District Attorney. A complaint and affidavit were issued. Judge Don Engleking issued a warrant for Michael Wayne Ellis for aggravated robbery and set bond at $250,000. The suspect is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach the subject. Anyone with information of the wheareabouts of the suspect, please call the Salado Police Department at 254-947-5698 or call the police department where the suspect is located.

Salado aldermen will consider the regulation of mobile food vehicles at its June 21 meeting after conducting the first reading of the Mobile Food Truck ordinance at its June 7 meeting.
Currently mobile food trucks are regulated under the itinerant vendor ordinance.

Salado aldermen will seek to regulate the keeping of chickens on residential properties within the Village and approved the first reading of the so-called Chicken Ordinance at its June 7 meeting.
The second reading and final approval of the ordinance is scheduled for aldermen’s June 21 meeting.

Salado aldermen postponed amending the current Golf Cart Ordinance to require that driver’s license and age requirement for operators of golf cart on public streets.
Like many municipalities in Texas, the Village of Salado allows the operation of golf carts on roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less, but implements requirements that meet the state standards in most respects.

On June 6, Salado Church of Christ begins a two-month summer speaker series for Wednesday evenings entitled, “Summer With the Disciplines.”
The intent is to have a different spiritual discipline expounded on each week, with the aim being for the hearers to apply these methods within themselves to aid in spiritual growth. Sometimes churches combine like River Pointe and West End Church did to give more locations in the Houston area
On June 6th, Charlie Johanson, of Austin, teaches on Scripture Meditation. On June 13, long-time Temple-area minister Loyd Hall will teach on Prayer as a spiritual discipline. On June 20, Dr. Keith Stanglin of the Austin Graduate School of Theology will teach on Fasting, while Paul Merideth, a minister from Temple, will finish out the month on June 27 teaching on Humility.
On July 11, Jim Hays of Austin will teach on Servanthood, followed on July 18 by Warren Gray, of Temple, who will expound on Silence/Solitude as a discipline.
The series concludes on July 25 with a lesson discussing the discipline of Surrender/Simplicity. The speaker that night is still TBD.
The church invites both members and friends in the community and area alike to come out and share in this series with them. They meet each Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the church auditorium, located at 217 N. Stagecoach Rd.
Salado ISD Athletic Director Paul Baird today announced new head coaches for volleyball and baseball. Kristi Wilk will be the new volleyball coach and Emery Atkisson will be the new baseball coach.
