Mountain lion kill spotted in downtown Salado
Evidence of a mountain lion has reportedly been seen in downtown Salado.
A mountain lion apparently killed a white tail deer near the playground area of First Baptist Church and dragged it to a brushy area nearby on Feb. 15.

Evan Wall in three-point contest
Evan Wall, a Salado High School basketball team member, has been selected for the 2017 American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk and 3-Point Competition based on 3-point shooting video and game stats. He has advanced to the second round with voting continuing through March 1.
This digital-voting contest features three brackets of 16 top high school 3-point shooters in the country.
They enter a four phase voting period where after each one week phase players advance -16-8-4-2. In the end, one winner from each bracket earns a spot in the High School 3-Point Championships in Phoenix, AZ, home of the Final Four on March 31.
Voting is at highschoolslam.com, and can be one time per device per day.

Gift that keeps giving: Stagecoach sewer costs continue rise
Repairs needed on tank could cost more than $88,000
In order to complete repairs on the main tank of the Stagecoach sewer, the Village will rent a temporary tank for the location. Whether that temporary tank is part of a temporary pump-and-haul program for the treatment of wastewater for 16 commercial customers or as part of repairing or replacing the damaged main tank will be decided at a later date.

Disannexation of a large portion of Salado will be on the May 6 ballot, as well as a field of seven candidates for three spots on the Village of Salado board of aldermen.
Police chief, officer resign from Salado PD
Salado police chief Jack Hensley turned in his badge to Mayor Skip Blancett on Feb. 14. A day later, officer Sid Post turned in his resignation from the Salado police department effective immediately.
