Work on sewer could begin as early as December
The Village expects to put the construction of the sewer system out for bid in September once final approval comes from Texas Historical Commission for the proposed final lines and sewer locations.

Retiring sewer debt could add 19¢ to tax rate
Although aldermen have directed City Administrator Kim Foutz to draft the 2016-17 general operating budget with no property tax increase, property taxes will increase dramatically next year due to the increased cost of retiring the debt of $8.8 million sewer bond.

No drastic changes in upcoming Village budget
Don’t expect much change in the 2016-17 Village budget. If anything, there will likely be fewer expenses to match the drop in revenues anticipated for next year.

Trailblazer comes to town
The Texas Association of Minority Engineers Trailblazer was overrun with kids on July 23 when it stopped at the Salado Public Library.
The TAME Trailblazer is a 40-foot exhibit trailer that houses a variety of engineering and science exhibits targeted at students in grades 3-8. It is the only interactive science and engineering museum on wheels in Texas. [Read more…] about Trailblazer comes to town

CTC College for Kids classes continue
The Central Texas College (CTC) Continuing Education department’s College for Kids program continues in August. Registration is open now for a variety of fun and hands-on learning classes directed to youngsters three years to high school-age in subjects such as science, computers, arts and crafts, life skills, languages and more. New owners cut ribbon at Susan Maries
Susan Marie’s owner Sally Volney cut the ribbon on July 19 to celebrate the reopening of the newly remodeled ladies boutique. As part of the celebration L-R ambassador Paulette Chandler, Chamber board of directors David Swarthout, Volney’s daughter Courtney Stewart, granddaughter Katie Stewart, owner Sally Volney, store manager Alice Winders, and many others including Chamber/Tourism executive director Mary Poche’ were on hand. Sally says says it is a family affair with everyone pitching in to do their part.
