The Salado United Methodist hosted its third annual Thanksgiving Feast on the southbound IH-35 rest stop area south of Salado.
Over 100 church members helped serve a full Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings to the traveling motorists.
A multi-county Central Texas program for farmers and ranchers conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in District 8 is scheduled Dec. 13. The District 8 Farm and Ranch Seminar will be offered at 12 locations across District 8. The majority of the program will be presented through the Internet with live interactive streaming video allowing Extension to utilize speakers from across the state.

The two weekends of Friday, Nov. 30 through Sunday Dec. 2 and Friday through Sunday Dec. 7-9 are filled with entertainment, activities and Christmas shopping experiences for the whole family.
Festivities start with the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m. Nov. 29. The Parade will begin on Royal St. and make its way up the length of Main Street to the Salado Plaza Shopping Center.
Arrive early (4:30 p.m.) Thursday Nov. 29 to get the best spots along the parade route.
The parade will have more than 40 entries and will include the SHS marching band, floats, walking groups, bicycle riders and vintage cars.
At the end of the parade, there will be hot chocolate and cookies and a visit from jolly old St. Nick at the Salado Sculpture Garden.
Strolling holiday carolers will serenade the late evening shoppers along Main Street each weekend. Children will be enchanted with the live nativity scene, sponsored by the First Baptist Church, in the evenings on the first weekend of the Stroll.

LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan (Nov. 22, 2012) – The annual celebration of Thanksgiving has been an official U.S. holiday since 1863, but the tradition goes back to 1621 when the Pilgrims joined with Native Americans in a three-day feast to celebrate their first harvest in the New World.
Metropolitan Opera baritone Robert McFarland and Terri Johnson, soprano, join the Temple Symphony Orchestra to present its 19th annual Holiday Concert. The concert, sponsored by Scott & White Healthcare and the City of Temple, is at 7:30 pm on Saturday, December 1, at the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center at Temple College.

AUSTIN, Texas – A new study based on census figures shows the gap between the rich and poor continues to grow quickly. The most recent figures say Texas has the seventh-highest inequality of any state. Analysts say it’s becoming a serious issue for the economy as a whole.
AUSTIN — Employers added 36,600 total nonfarm jobs in October in Texas for a total of 277,400 jobs added over the year. The state’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.6 percent in October from 6.8 percent in September. The unemployment rate in Texas remains well below the national rate of 7.9 percent.

Since its creation in 1999, the Clearwater Underground Water Control District (CUWCD) has registered 4,925 wells and permits for wells in Bell County.
Of those registrations, 4,060 are grandfathered exempt wells. Another 709 are also exempt wells, according to Leland Gersbach, president of the board of directors of the CUWCD.
