Salado hosted the 13th Annual Wildflower Art Fair & Festival on March 21-23 with events at the Salado Civic Center, The Range at the Barton House and throughout the Village.
Dr. Ralph Ford, President, Texas Operations and Online Programs for Central Texas College in Killeen, will be the speaker Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Salado Area Republican Women’s Fine China Luncheon and Fundraiser. The luncheon will be held at The Venue, 212 Royal Street in Salado starting at 11:30 a.m.
On Saturday, October 26th, Sunday the 27th Salado’s Tablerock Walking Trail will be magically transformed into a Fright Trail. From 6:30PM ‘till the approach of the witching hour 10:00PM Goblins will extract a $3.00 fee from children and a $5.00 fee from big children for a walk on the spectral side of Tablerock.
Christmas in October is just around the corner and Tommye Prater says this year has all the makings of a hit. The event will be held in the Conference Center of the historic Stagecoach Inn Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Killeen, TX – Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children welcomed 20 Salado High School students on Wednesday, September 25 for a high-adventure leadership retreat. As part of the Youth Leadership Program at Salado High School, students challenged themselves on the 40-foot rock wall, 175-foot zipline, low-ropes obstacle course and other activities.

Last year, Salado Athletic Booster Club funded $73,023 to Salado student athletes and athletic programs.
The success of the Booster Club is due chiefly to the support of sponsors, an annual Reverse Raffle and an annual golf tournament in the spring that raises money for scholarships to qualifying Salado seniors.
The Annual Athletic Booster Reverse Raffle, Dinner and Dance will be Sept. 21 at Tenroc Ranch Blue Heron room.
On the twelfth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Salado students, along with local law enforcement and fire fighters, joined with troopers from the 3d Cavalry Regiment to honor the sacrifices of so many brave individuals that day by completing a Freedom Walk.
“His greatest gift is the ability to build positive relationships with students, employees, parents and all other stakeholders,” Dr. Michael Novotny said of Salado High principal Burt Smith.
That gift is one of the reasons Smith was recently named by the 2013 Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as the Region 12 High School Principal of the Year. Smith will find out later this year if he will be named as the State High School Principal of the Year.
Salado named best in state in UIL competition in 2A division
After a late season rise in the standings, Salado High School captured its second Conference 2A UIL Lone Star Cup win today (July 1). The Eagles excelled in the spring winning state championships in academics and girls golf, finishing third at state in one-act play and boys golf, and advancing to the state semifinals in baseball.
The announcement was made official on July 1 after a two-week waiting period when the final standings were released June 17.
