Today’s Christmas parade kicks off annual Salado Stroll
Weekend long event includes Homes Tour, late night shopping, strolling entertainment
Get in the holiday spirit in picturesque historic Salado with a holiday parade, home tours, a live nativity scene and theatrical performances.
The two weekends of Friday, Nov. 30 through Sunday Dec. 2 and Friday through Sunday Dec. 7-9 are filled with entertainment, activities and Christmas shopping experiences for the whole family.
Festivities start with the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m. Nov. 29. The Parade will begin on Royal St. and make its way up the length of Main Street to the Salado Plaza Shopping Center.
Arrive early (4:30 p.m.) Thursday Nov. 29 to get the best spots along the parade route.
The parade will have more than 40 entries and will include the SHS marching band, floats, walking groups, bicycle riders and vintage cars.
At the end of the parade, there will be hot chocolate and cookies and a visit from jolly old St. Nick at the Salado Sculpture Garden.
Strolling holiday carolers will serenade the late evening shoppers along Main Street each weekend. Children will be enchanted with the live nativity scene, sponsored by the First Baptist Church, in the evenings on the first weekend of the Stroll.
Beautifully decorated historic and contemporary homes open their doors to visitors during Christmas Stroll. See Homes Tour story on page 1B, this edition, for times, stops and tickets.
To get in the holiday spirit, take in Tablerock Amphitheater’s production of Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” in the evenings or the laugh-filled Silver Spur Theater’s annual Christmas production of “Christmas is on the Air” with performances Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 15.
