Eagles give up 3 unearned runs in home district loss
The defending state champion Jarrell Cougars knocked Salado out of the top spot in 2A baseball when they squeaked out a 3-2 win, thanks to three unearned runs in the fifth inning of their March 19 district match in Salado.
Neither team scored through the first three innings as Salado pitcher Reagan Bazar found himself with Jarrell runners on every base and just one out in the first. He responded by striking out the next batter and shortstop Marshall Mann took a slow grounder and threw the runner out at first to get out of the inning.

AUSTIN — The Texas unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent in November, down from 6.6 percent in October and 7.3 percent at the start of 2012. The unemployment rate in Texas remains well below the national rate of 7.7 percent. Texas employers added 22,100 total nonfarm jobs in November for a total of 278,800 jobs added over the year.
Bomb threat call made to Civic Center
Breaking News:
A bomb threat was called in to the Salado Civic Center on Main Street December 19. The Civic Center Foundation office phone number was called by an unknown person asking for a specific employee of the Civic Center.
The Salado Civic Center is home to the Salado ISD administrative offices. The caller did not mention the school during the phone call. It is not believed that any Salado ISD campuses were in danger. The six school employees who office at the Civic Center, and others inside the building were evacuated by Salado Police Department.
An explosive detection canine unit from Killeen was called to the scene and the building has been cleared.
