Collectors will give kids a chance to operate model trains
The Austin Tinplate Trackers model railroad enthusiasts will have a display at the Salado Church of Christ Activities Center Oct. 5-6.
The display is free to the public and children will have the chance to operate the model trains (with assistance from the Tinplate Trackers, of course). The display will be open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Oct. 5 and noon – 4 p.m. Oct. 6.

Sirois honored for quick action to save life of man trapped in burning truck
Salado native Allen Sirois is among the 15 Americans and three Canadians that the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission honored today by announcing them as 2019 recipients of the Carnegie Medal.
Sirois is the son of Stephanie Hood of Salado and grandson of Monroe and Linda Moore of Salado.

The Village of Salado will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2019-2020 fiscal year budget at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at the municipal building.
Aldermen will hold public hearings on the proposed tax rate on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12. At its regular meeting on Sept. 19, the board of aldermen will adopt the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget and tax rate.

Sanctuary Phase I will be purely residential and will exit the property on Royal Street across from the Salado United Methodist Church. Village administrator Don Ferguson reviewed the Construction Plans and Construction Plat with aldermen at their Aug. 1 meeting.
Phase I will have 15 lots of 0.08-0.1 acres in size, 157 lots of 0.1-0.2 acres in size and 20 lots over 0.2 acres in size. It will also have 20 acres of open space.
