“I will not stop chopping apples to feed to the deer on my back porch, becasue it is my right to do what I want on my property,” said one Salado resident who admitted that she has an “addiction to feeding apples to the deer.
“We think we are helping them, but we are not,” said another Salado resident who confessed to being what she called a “reformed deer feeder.” She added that feeding deer corn was akin to “giving your child a Snickers bar” every day for every meal when it can lead to serious health problems.

Salado aldermen directed staff to “negotiate and prepare an engineer’s contract for consideration at the next meeting for services to establish the Village’s Certificate of Convenience and Necessity Service Area for a wastewater system.”
The board voted unanimously Sept. 3 for the first of three motions concerning the wastewater treatment plant and the agreements between the Village and The Sanctuary, LLC.

Salado aldermen voted unanimously tonight to postpone action regarding the wastewater services agreement, the donation agreement, the warranty deed and the development agreement with The Sanctuary Development until Sept. 3 at which time any agreements between the Village and the developer may dissolve.

Main Street property owners, local residents and business owners are invited to public meetings for the first phase of the Main Street Improvement Initiative 5:30-7 p.m. on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Salado aldermen at their Aug. 20 meeting approved the issuance of $8.2 million in bonds for the construction of a sewer system authorized by voters in November 2014. The issuance of the bonds came three days after village aldermen approved a Donation Agreement and a Wastewater Services Agreement with The Sanctuary Development Company.

Salado’s 49th Art Fair will be held indoors and on the grounds of The Venue off of Royal St. in downtown Salado Aug. 8-9, featuring the art of dozens of Texas artists.
The show will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 8 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 9 and admission is free.
There is free parking throughout the Village with access to the Village trolley service.

Salado — I-35 southbound mainlanes between Belton and Salado, from Exit #290 (Shanklin Rd.) to Exit #286 (FM 2484) will be closed from 7 pm Wednesday night, August 4th, until 7 am Thursday morning, August 5th. All I-35 southbound traffic will detour to the southbound frontage road, and re-enter the I-35 mainlanes south of FM 2484, as the contractor moves concrete barriers and prepares pavement for an upcoming traffic shift.
Local traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routes. Long delays are expected.
